Anglia Hotel, Poole Road, Bournemouth.

Major Planning Application Approved unanimously by Committee and praised by Bournemouth Planning Committee Chairman.

The Quality of Design and Presentation of Allies Associates revised proposals for this site were praised by the Chairman of the Planning Committee who said he hoped the building would go ahead despite the current economic climate. The 64 apartment proposals for this prominent site which has a long history of Planning refusals were approved at the Bournemouth Planning Committee. The Main Poole Road elevation comprises two symmetrical mansion blocks, each with roofs rising like wings either side of a central feature. The two blocks are linked and visually separated by a 4 storey glazed wall. Despite the lightness and elegance of these proposals more accommodation is provided than in the last refused application.

Affordable Housing.

Allies Associates design a series of Affordable Housing Proposals and develop New Low Energy Family Housing System.

Allies Associates apply their extensive housing experience to Social Housing Projects. Working with developers of high quality homes including New Forest Company Eden Country Homes, design proposals for sites in Southampton, Christchurch, Bournemouth and Dorset  were prepared and submitted for approval to Housing Associations.

Responding to the high demand for family housing and the availability of sites which would normally be developed for apartments, Allies Associates have developed the OWLS family housing system. OWLS stands for Offsite manufacture, Warranted performance, Low energy construction and Sustainable design and technology. Capable of achieving Code for Sustainable Homes levels 3, 4 and higher, the system provides all the benefits of traditional family housing at higher densities. The OWLS system integrates advanced sustainable technologies including the micro generation of renewable energy, combining solar collectors, heat pumps and passive thermal storage to dramatically reduce the energy consumption and carbon foot print of new affordable homes.

Allies Associates are appointed on two exciting community projects. A health and fitness gymnasium for Beaufort Community Centre and a new pavilion and changing rooms at Waterman's Park for Twynham Rangers Youth Football Club. Working with the Community Sustainable Energy Programme and the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, Allies Associates proposals for the Waterman's Park Pavilion  were presented to the Duke of Wessex when he visited Christchurch and to the local community at an informal public consultation. The final design, inspired by skateboarding and featuring a 6KW wind turbine has received enthusiastic support from all quarters of the community including  the Police, Planners and most importantly the local youth who have given the project their unanimous support.
